We are excited to be in “Philly” the birthplace of the United States, where the first Continential Congress met in 1774.

So, it is very appropriate that NABBI holds it first membership conference and training in such an historic city.

But there is another reason why the NABBI board of directors selected Philadelphia. The city banned the private surety bail bond business about 30 years ago due to corruption in the bail bond industry, courts and law enforcement.

Since then, many honest hard working and ethical bail agents and bail bond investigators have dedicated their lives to improving the image of the profession and to weed out the corruption among bail professionals.

We want to show the citizens of Philadelphia that the professional members of NABBI can help them improve the performance and efficiency of their bail bond system.

Please join us for education, training and networking in Philadelphia this September 23, 24 and 25, 2012 at the Sheraton Suites Philadelphia Airport.

Until now, there was no organization or association on the national or state level, advocating on behalf of bail bond recovery agents. There needed to be a non profit, non partisan group that will articulate intelligently without theatrics, the purpose and role of PROFESSIONAL bail recovery agents.

That is what NABBI is.

NABBI has a defined Code of Ethics, Mission Statement and Bylaws that if followed by its members, will set those members above the average bail agent and bail recovery agent.

We are developing RECOMMENDED minimum training and education requirements for our members.

We have experts in different areas of bail and bail recovery that can be called upon to provide training and witness testimony, if asked.

So, as a member, what do you get for your membership?

First, access to some of, if not the most experienced agents in the country to network with.

Secondly, access to training and education that you will not find anywhere else.

Third, opportunity to learn and share knowledge and experiences.

Fourth, to be recognized as one of the “best of the best.”

Fifth, to be a “go to person” in your area for information and advice.

Sixth to be listed as a member that has been verified and a person that adheres to a high standard.

Seventh, a chance twice a year to attend conferences that will provide specialzed training, education and a chance to meet face to face with your peers.

Finally, if you or all the members want, we can work on a standardized badge, if your state allows agents to carry badges, that will identify you as a NABBI member. That would include an ID card.

All that for $100. (Badges may be a seprate cost.)

There are no “big egos” in NABBI. Everyone is a type “A” personality. You have to be to own and operate your own business. However, that does not mean that we can’t work together to preserve and advance the bail recovery PROFESSION.

To me it is a profession.

We all need to get over the individual personal dislikes and if we agree to the goals and mission of NABBI, then we need to make what ever sacrifice that is needed to achieve those goals.

NABBI is not a clique or “good old boys club.” NABBI members have answered the call and stood up to be counted as one of many, that are working hard to gain the respect and acknowledgement that every honest and ethical bail and bail recovery agent deserves.

We are fighting for something that is larger than any one of us individually!

There were members from the west coast, east coast, north and south. The experience and knowledge of these founding men and women, places them in the top 10% of all bail investigators in the country.

The personal sacrifice of time and money that they made to move from an idea to reality, is only beginning.

I wish to thank each and everyone of them, again.

Whether you prefer to be called a bounty hunter, bail enforcement agent or any other commonly used name, the purpose of NABBI™ is to help you, the professional, to improve on your knowledge and skills, to network with other professional investigators and to inform the public as to how true professionals perform their jobs.

Early on, I recognized how important the bail bond investigator is to the bail bond profession. As a bail bond agent, there is no way that I can fully perform my job, without the aid of a qualified bail bond investigator.

No matter how careful I pre screen a potential bail bond client, there is always going to be a bail skip. So, there will always be a need for professional bail bond investigators.

For me, an investigator that can perform his or her job in a safe, liability free and humane way, is the sign of a true professional.

I know there are hundreds, if not thousands of you throughout this great country of ours that are ture professionals also. We need you to join with us, to be actively involved and to change the image of the bail bond investigator to truly reflect the dedication and professionalism you live by everyday.

I am honored to have been elected the president of the National Association of Bail Bond Investigators by my friends and fellow bail professionals. I promise to discharge the duties of this office to the best on my abilities.

I can somewhat understand this reaction, as this type of organization has been attempted before and not succeeded – there are a few that do exist, but unfortunately have made no head way.

Anyone that has NOT registered or NOT paid for the conference, you must do so by this Friday, March 9th.

After that you will not be guaranteed meals and drinks, as we can not change the attendee count. Sorry, but the hotel has deadlines to meet.

Also, today is the last day of the group room rate. After today it will go up by at least $40 per night, even more for Sunday.

Any attendee planning on eating and drinking with us, must be a paid attendee. We have the meeting room, food and beverage and audio visual costs to cover.

Also if you plan to bring a friend, unless they are a paid attendee, they are not allowed to be at the meal functions.

The reason for the group discount rate and minimum food orders is to allow a group to spread the cost of the meeting facility over the entire group.

If we were to “rent” the meeting space and pay for it at the going rate along with the audio/visual equipment, it would cost the association thousands up front.

So the hotels figure out that if we, the association, guarantee X amount of rooms used by our group and a certain minimum food orders, then the attendees could pay for some of the meeting cost.

Also, the association then could lower the registration fee we charge of Only $100.

For example: The PBUS conference at the Flamingo in Las Vegas registration was $425 for members & $525 for non members. The group room rate was $99 plus tax and fees per nite.

With out a group room guarantee, the PBUS registration would probably have been double that amount because they would have had to pay for the meeting rooms and food out of the registration fees.

If you have ever planned a wedding or party at a hotel, you would know what the rental costs are. They are not cheap.

The committees have put a lot of work into this event. Many have obligated themselves to thousands of dollars in meeting costs with the hotel. All be it on behalf of an association that is not an association yet.

All this was based on many members from various forums stating that this was a great idea and that we needed to get moving on this ASAP.

Now many of the original supporters are silent and not attending.

Obviously, if anyone has a legitimate family, financial, or personal issues that prevents them from attending, no one will blame them for missing the meeting. But if some are going wait to see if this thing can get off the ground, then come in when the initial work has been done, we do take issue with that.

We are not referring to any particular person. We only hope that those that cannot make the meeting are doing so for the reasons mentioned earlier and not because they only want to talk the talk.

After much discussion and deliberation, the location (Saint Louis, Missouri) was chosen because of it’s centralized point in the United States. It is considered the “Gateway to the West.” Therefore, those on the East will travel about equally as those on the West. Plus there are additional activities and entertainment at this facility and surrounding area.
